Naperville North Band

Concert Band

This entry-level band is primarily for freshmen and less-experienced musicians who are developing their skills and learning to perfect ensemble playing. Open to students of all grade levels, this band does not require an audition. The concert band performs in five concerts during the school year and makes up the core of our pep band during basketball season.

Wind Symphony

These musicians play at a moderately advanced level. An audition is required and private lessons are highly recommended. The Wind Symphony plays a more difficult repertoire as it performs in five concerts and at least one in-state band festival. This is also our featured ensemble for Commencement and the Memorial Day Parade.

Symphonic Wind Ensemble

Open to audition only, the top musicians at North are members of this ensemble, in grades 10, 11 or 12. A rigorous schedule of musical literature and individual assessments each quarter means these musicians need to have demonstrated significant skill and passion. Most of these musicians are involved in private lessons to maintain the highest performance level. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble performs in six concerts, various state and national festivals and the Memorial Day Parade. Several members of the ensemble will also perform with the Symphony Orchestra and audition for local and state honor bands.
