News of Note

Greetings Musicians-

Welcome to the start of a new and exciting year at North. The orchestras have an thrilling year of music planned for our audiences. The first concert of the year will be a sampler platter of music featuring all curricular ensembles at North. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear what’s happening across the hall.

All students string, vocal, or wind should check out the Naperville North music website at NNHSmusic.org. Come seeking answers to all of life’s questions: When are the concerts? Where do bees go in the winter? And what’s the orchestra uniform look like.

Renaissance Music Project and the Naperville North Bluegrass Fiddlers will begin rehearsal the week of September 14th. All interested should contact Mr. Green and he’ll get you outfitted with a straw hat and/or the “Art of Counterpoint” by Zarlino.

Bella Corda will see its second season begin in January. Auditions for this advanced extra-curricular will be in December. I will be asking to hear a three octave scale and a prepared concerto/excerpt. The group will again clinic with area universities and travel for playing gigs.

I very much look forward to a year of interesting new music and tried and true harmonious classical. This is an exciting time to be in music with the constant innovation of the compositional form and the ever-increasingly high caliber of performance in the discipline. I encourage you all to find music and listen to it! Make it a point to see at least one opera this season and visit our world class Chicago Symphony Orchestra both just one quick train ride away.

Be well and be musical,

Dana Green
