Mr. Moore's Notes

Dan Moore

In some ways, it seems impossible that time has gone by so quickly. Weren’t these Seniors Freshmen just a year ago? Yet, when we look at all we’ve accomplished in just the past nine months, it doesn’t seem possible that it all happened in so short a span. Some of the band department highlights included our first annual Bando-Rama concert in the Fieldhouse, our jazz trip to Nashville and Memphis, and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble’s triumphant return to the University of Illinois Superstate Festival. All of our groups, thanks to a small-but-mighty Senior class, made incredible strides throughout the year.

Next year, the Marching Huskies will return to St. Louis for the Bands of America Super-Regional, and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble will audition for Superstate, as well as a yet-to-be-determined National Festival. Our curricular numbers will be up above two hundred once again, as our younger bands continue to grow and develop. In the meantime, keep your chops up over the Summer: Get together with friends to play duets; seek other opportunities to play; and be ready to hit the ground running when we return in August.
